Since we were leaving a few days prior to the bulk of people at the Academy, lots of folks hung out late into the night and helped us pack. Everyone must evacuate the premises by August 1st, when the Academy closes for a month and prepares to receive the next round of Fellows. We would not have managed the quitting of this place quite as well without the presence of all our friends (including that cup of coffee Paul made me, quick-witted advice nuggets from Lisa, Lisa, Christina, Eleanor, and Erin, and the bursting muscles of Dan McR and Jason). It reminded me of the carnival atmosphere, the intensity, at the end of a college semester when certain boundaries dissolve and you can feel the raw pulse of the goodwill that's been created between people, the atmosphere we've created together.
